13.0 Release Notes#

  • Version 13.0 introduces multi-tenant cluster configuration to the ClusterWare software. In a multi-tenant cluster, a super-cluster is sub-divided, isolated, and leased to customers. Each sub-cluster, or tenancy, has its own instance of ClusterWare with supporting virtual and bare metal machines. Special packages and a Penguin Services contract are required to enable a multi-tenant cluster. Contact Penguin Computing to learn more.

  • A new public installation repository is available at repo.ice.penguinsolutions.com. The ClusterWare 13 installation files are available in the new repository. Contact Penguin Computing for details.

  • Additional rebranding work, including updating the prefix of all ClusterWare commands to cw-*. Scripts that use the older scyld-* commands will continue to work, but should be updated with the new syntax as support for legacy scyld-* commands will be removed in a future release.

  • The ClusterWare graphical user interface (GUI) is now at near-parity with the command line (CLI) tools. All major actions on any database primitive can be done through either the GUI or CLI.

  • Two new dashboards are available in Grafana for monitoring syslog and audit log records.

  • Added a new provider option, Kubevirt, to allocate virtual machines on Kubernetes.

  • Improved Nvidia hardware data collection via the clusterware-node package.

See Changelog for a full history of ClusterWare releases, and Known Issues And Workarounds for a summary of notable known current issues.

Deprecated Features#

The following features were deprecated with the ICE ClusterWare ™ Release v13.0.0. In the case of commands or command arguments, the legacy values will continue to work for now, but will be removed fully in a future release. Scripts or other automation should be updated accordingly.

  • The user token duration argument name changed from timeout or lifetime to lifespan.

  • ClusterWare commands now use the cw-* prefix rather than the scyld-* prefix.

  • The rwtab value is removed from the _boot_rw_layer reserved attribute.
